GCC appoints four new members to its Council

The General Chiropractic Council (GOC) has appointed four new members to its Council. The new members take up their roles on 1 August 2017.


Mary Chapman has been appointed as Chair of Council.  Mary is a Chartered Director and has held several senior appointments including Chief Executive of the Chartered Management Institute.  Mary has also served as a non executive board member for several public organisations and is currently Chair of the Audit Committee of the Archbishops’ Council of the Church of England.
Sharon Oliver joins the Council as a lay member and will also take up the role of Chair of the Education Committee.  Sharon is an educational and organisational development specialist and has worked in schools, Further and Higher Education and NHS organisations.
Ralph Pottie joins the Council as a registrant member.  Ralph owns and runs a chiropractic clinic in Ayr, south-west Scotland. Ralph trained and worked as a nurse prior to enjoying a career in policy and regulation with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
Keith Richards joins the Council as a lay member.  Keith is a barrister and has served as an independent member and non exec director on many regulatory bodies in a variety of sectors.


The new appointments were made by the Privy Council after a thorough recruitment process overseen by the Professional Standards Authority.
