Joint report on whistleblowing disclosures
Together with the seven other healthcare professional regulators, the General Chiropractic Council has published the latest report on whistleblowing disclosures
This latest joint report, for the year to 31 March 2019, shows how we have handled whistleblowing disclosures and what action we took.
Published with the General Dental Council, General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Osteopathic Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health and Care Professions Council, and Nursing and Midwifery Council, the report highlights the regulators’ coordinated effort to work together to handle serious whistleblowing issues raised with us.
By providing details on the number of concerns raised and the types of action taken as a result, the report aims to provide transparency in how whistleblowing concerns are handled and raise confidence among whistleblowers that their disclosures are taken seriously.
On 1 April 2017, a new legal duty came into force which required all prescribed bodies to publish an annual report on the whistleblowing disclosures made to them by workers. A decision was taken by the healthcare regulators to publish the first report in 2018 as a joint report, with the same approach taken this year.
