In October last year we highlighted to registrants that, in many circumstances, moving to non-practising is often not in their best interests. Of the 119 registrants that did not complete the retention process at the end of 2024, how many of them had previously been non-practising?
A) 10% | B) 26% | C) 45% |
The answer is B.
Of the 119 registrations that were not retained, 31 (26%) were non-practising prior to their registration lapsing. Overall, there was a 9.8% drop in the number of non-practising registrants meaning, at the start of 2025, the register is 5.8% non-practising.

The Test of Competence is the process by which the GCC confirms that a person with a chiropractic qualification obtained from an education provider outside the UK, and not approved by the GCC, meets the standards required to practise in the UK.
In 2024, 36 chiropractors took the Test of Competence - with three individuals taking the test twice. While the register as a whole is an even 50:50 split between male and female chiropractors, what was the split for TOC candidates?

A) Nine (15%) | B) Fifteen (25%) | C) Twenty eight (48%) |
The answer is A.
Of the 58 cases heard by the Investigating committee, nine (15%) were referred to the Professional Conduct Committee.
