The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) has published a letter to the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) following its 2025/26 performance review.

In the letter, GCC Chair Jonathan McShane responds to PSA Chair Caroline Corby, acknowledging the need for continued improvement in the timeliness of Fitness to Practise processes, while highlighting the progress made and measures introduced to strengthen performance.

The response welcomes the PSA's recognition that the GCC's investigations remain robust and that improvements have been made at earlier stages of the process. It also recognises that further work is needed to ensure these improvements are reflected across the wider process.

The letter outlines steps taken to support more effective case progression, including changes to team structure, a more resilient resourcing model, investment in technology, increased performance oversight and the introduction of the Chiropractic Complaints Mediation Service pilot.

The GCC's Council remains actively engaged in overseeing this work and will continue to monitor progress and the impact of improvement activity.

The response reaffirms the GCC's commitment to working constructively and transparently with the PSA, strengthening regulatory performance and maintaining effective public protection.
