Earlier this week the Health and Safety Executive announced they were conducting an inspection campaign targeting chiropractors who use radiation generators. The campaign will run to the end of March, and will visit chiropractors who may have X-ray imaging equipment or other sources of ionising radiation.
The HSE press release should be read on their website.
The General Chiropractic Council's guidance for registrants on Diagnostic Imaging has recently been reviewed and the "useful links" section updated, following the adoption of the new Code of Professional Practice 2026.
To help chiropractors know what to expect from an inspection, and how to prepare, the Health and Safety Executive has produced a video:
We are aware of commercial companies who have been contacting chiropractors following the announcement of the HSE inspection programme to aggressively sell their own health and safety consultancy services.
The HSE has reassured us that they do not have any association with these companies, and their inspection campaign is only intended to visit chiropractors who use radiation generators such as X-Ray machines.
