The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has identified a long-standing outbreak of Burkholderia cepacia linked to a non-sterile ultrasound gel product used in hospitals in the UK and Ireland.

This alert contains urgent actions for all healthcare providers of facilities providing ultrasound services and clinicians and practitioners using ultrasound gel in their practice to reduce risk to patients associated with the use of non-sterile ultrasound gel in healthcare settings.
