Later this month, the GCC will be contacting all registrants to invite them to remain on the Register of Chiropractors in 2024. The notice will ask you to sign into the GCC portal and complete your online application, as well as update your professional indemnity details and pay the required registration fee. For 2024, the fee will again remain at £800, or £100 for those who do not intend to practise during 2024. We ask that you complete your registration application by 30 November to ensure you are not removed from the register.

Paying in advance by Direct Debit

Mindful of the current financial climate, we are pleased to say that the fee remains the same as it has for the last 10 years - we have never increased the annual registration fee.

However, we recognise that paying the fee can be a substantial outlay, and that some registrants would prefer to pay in instalments rather than as a lump sum. While our rules (decreed in a statutory instrument by the Privy Council) mean that each year's registration must be paid in advance, we can also collect payments in advance via Direct Debit, to help you spread the cost of the 2025 retention fee. By paying 10 installments from January to October 2024, the intention is that you will have paid for your 2025 registration by this time next year. And if you then decide not to remain on the register in 2025, we would return the full amount (note that once the registration year has started we are prevented from reimbursing all or part of the fee).

You can view your Direct Debit details in the GCC Registrant Portal, or register for a new Direct Debit by sending your bank details (account, sort code, bank name and addess), your name and address, and your GCC registration number to GCCDirectDebits@gcc-uk.org. Please note it is now too late to pay for the 2024 retention via Direct Debit if you have not already done so.

Voluntary removal from the register

If you decide that you no longer wish to remain on the register (perhaps you are retiring, taking a career break or working overseas), we would be grateful if you inform us of your intentions. Note that you cannot practise as a chiropractor in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man or Gibralter if you are not registered.
