Firstly, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone that took the time to respond to our consultation into the Code of Professional Practice. The consultation closed on Friday with around 120 responses, and the work of analysing the results and developing the final version for our Council to consider in December is underway.
Over the summer I was delighted to meet many registrants at the different events organised by your Professional Associations to support us with the consultation. My overwhelming impression from the events, and the responses received, was the passion and thoughtfulness of all involved, particularly from newer registrants.
Today we are launching a new role which I hope will help us further unlock some of that passion and thoughtfulness, in support of the future of the GCC, and the future leadership of the profession.
We are recruiting for a non-voting associate member of the Council. This is a new (paid) role attending Council meetings and contributing to the work of Council.
The role is designed to provide a two-year-long opportunity for chiropractors who may not have considered a role on a Board or Council to get exposure to this type of activity. We hope that the successful candidate will develop valuable board experience that they can translate to further roles leading the profession – either through their professional association, the Royal College of Chiropractors or the GCC itself.
In return we expect the successful candidate to provide a fresh voice at Council – challenging and enhancing our discussions, sharing their lived experience of chiropractic education and practice, and helping us as we set our strategic plan for the coming five years. We are looking for someone that will offer insights and question assumptions, improving the Council’s overall effectiveness.
We would like to encourage applications from candidates who are underrepresented within our Committees, including people from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, and women.
I am particularly keen for you to consider applying if you wouldn’t normally consider being a member of Council or a board to be “your thing” – you could be the person we are looking for!
Further details are available on our opportunities page - and I look forward to seeing your application.
